Buggies/SXS @Dumont 3D TV special
Back in January we were asked by Pro Armor to bring some badass SXS's to Dumont for a 3D video shoot for Discovery Channel. They had some buggies and quads also. The producers got so much footage that they decided to split it up into two shows, sandrails and SXS/quads. The sandrail show is on now and the SXS airs June18th. The show is called "High Octane" which airs on 3NET (Discovery/Sony/Imax 3D joint venture channel). I get it on channel 107-direct tv.

Lucas-Oil-Regional-Off-Road-Racing-Series-to-Kick-Off-This-Weekend
While the Lucas Oil Regional Off Road Racing Series Presented by Daystar kicks off this Saturday, April 2nd, the organization continues to gain momentum with the support of a number of exciting new partnerships.
The series focus of providing a platform for the development of grass roots short course off road racing allows for a number of these new partners to support the series and participants while reaching their desired customer base; the racers themselves. Among these partners is rear end manufacturer, Currie Enterprises. With their support of the series, Currie has received naming rights for the pit support area where in-race and emergency repairs take place throughout the event.
The regional series also features a number of short course off road Kart divisions for both children and adults. Lending their support to the newly named CMI Junior 2 class is industrial and commercial machine specialist, CMI Precision Machining. Manufacturer of the popular Karts, Trophy Kart, will now be presenting the adult Trophy Kart division and will field special guest drivers to compete in each event. The wildly popular SR1 and Unlimited UTV classes will also be competing at this weekend's event presented by UTV Performance products supplier, Black Rhino Performance. These companies join Camburg Engineering and Alumi Craft, previously announced as the Mini Open Truck Sponsor and the Limited Buggy Class Sponsor.
When the checkered flag drops, fans will recognize a familiar supporter of short course off road racing; Team Associated. As the official R/C vehicle of Lucas Oil Off Road Racing, Team Associated has expanded its extensive partnership with the series and the sport and has been named the "Checkered Flag Sponsor" of the Regional Series.
This weekend, all registered drivers will receive one driving session to their local Pole Position raceway to hone their skills in addition to some other great bonuses provided by series supporters. General Tire has also signed up to provide some end of the year purse money for participating racers in specified classes.
Admission for Saturday's event is just $10 for the full day of short course off road racing action on the famed Glen Helen short course off road track. Come on out and cheer on some of the sport's brightest stars as well as the future stars of short course off road racing.

Bigger And Better Than Ever: Polaris Rzr Xp 900
from our friends at atv rider
Testing the new Polaris RZR XP 900 to see what it's made of
January 27, 2011
By Rick Sosebee

The off-road power sports industry has many new faces and many more new and exciting off-road vehicles for the free at heart. The road to 2011 hasn't been paved with gold for everyone, but a select few seem to have hit the fleeting masses with unforgettable products. A few years back the off-road world was turned upside down with the development and release of the Polaris RZR. The RZR was to be the first true race, sport, purpose-built adventure UTV. This vehicle made it possible for race fans, or just the true adventurer, to conquer their dreams of off-road freedom whether on the tightest trail or at the local race track.
Although there were a couple of players in this market before the RZR came to be, those were more of a working and utilitarian type vehicle with a side of trail worthiness. Starting from the moment in our power sports history in which the team of designers at Polaris released the "epic" ride, many have jumped into the side-by-side and UTV market with success, but it seems for this particular arena Polaris has the stronghold. Even with the Can-Am Commander ripping the trail scene wide open, there was still a size difference that kept the RZR a popular purchase and I believe there will always be.
So where are we going today in 2011 you might ask? Well just a few hours ago, myself and ATV Rider Magazine editor Eli Madero had a chance to see and drive Polaris's answer to the horsepower race that has befell the UTV market. Keeping the same stature and look, the RZR has evolved into what could be the most nimble desert slayer on the market. The newly designed rear trailing arms and front suspension give the feel of a miniature Trophy truck. The power output of the twin cylinder four-stroke has to be the biggest for the vehicle's power-to-weight ratio. A staggering 88HP to the rear wheels on this machine is beyond expectation and the feel of this power output under your foot makes the driver feel as though they are controlling a sprint cup race car.
Our conclusion is that the new Polaris RZR XP900 is going to be the new king of the SxS market. If you like the information you've gotten from this so far, look for an in-depth ride review in the May/June issue of ATV Rider Magazine and we guarantee that you'll be happy with the results.

A staggering 88HP to the rear wheels on this machine is beyond expectation and the feel of this power output under your foot makes the driver feel as though they are controlling a sprint cup race car.
With a very crisp throttle, the flat-footed riding style of many desert-racing enthusiasts will be quickly satisfied and the suspension just adds to it, multiplying the fun. The front suspension gives up an amazing 13.5 inches of travel and coupled with the Fox piggy back dual rate sprung shocks you can roll the tops of the rutted trails at speed with little effort. The rear trailing arm technology isn't exactly new in the off-road world, but on a side-by-side set up like the RZR XP900 it makes the ride phenomenal. The independent rear suspension has 14 inches of wheel travel. With an overall width of 64 inches coupled to the 4.5-inch longer wheelbase, the machine seems to be very stable in the roughest terrain.
After a few hours behind the wheel of what some would consider a mini trophy truck, Eli and myself had a grin that went from ear to ear. Never before have we driven a SxS machine that had handling and acceleration characteristics similar to an ATV. When you want to unload the front end to charge over whoops that would swallow any other machine, all you needed to do was mash down on the skinny pedal. The cornering characteristics were similar to that of a roller coaster since you could just stay on the gas and turn the wheel in whatever direction you wanted and that is exactly where the machine would take you. Our goal was to push this machine to its limits and I think we were pushed to ours far before we could get close.

Mark Holz In His Can-Am Commander 1000 Wins At 2011 Worcs Opener
Team Motoworks / Can-Am had an excellent opening to its 2011 World Off-Road Championship Series race season as factory driver Mark Holz piloted his Holz Racing / Motoworks / Can-Am Commander 1000 side-by-side vehicle to the Class 1 victory in front of some of the best side-by-drivers in North America. His teammate, Jeremie Warnia also too the Pro-class victory on his Can-Am DS 450 ATV completing the weekend sweep of the premier classes by Motoworks / Can-Am.
I’m extremely proud of Mark Holz as he drove excellently this past weekend to earn the Motoworks / Can-Am Commander 1000 a victory at the opener of this highly competitive race series,” said Jimmie O’Dell, Race Manager, Can-Am. “As demonstrated with the DS 450 victory as well, the team’s preparation and testing has definitely paid off and I’m looking forward to many more victories in what will surely be a very exciting season.”
In the side-by-side race, Holz quickly passed for the lead during the first lap and never looked back. At the end of the race, he and his Commander 1000 were nearly two minutes ahead of the nearest competitor; he also had the fastest lap of the race as well. Warnia looked extremely fast in practice and backed it up by passing for the lead on the first lap of the Pro ATV race on his DS 450 and fought off the competition. His teammate and defending champion, Josh Frederick, took third in the Pro class on his DS 450.
